We arrived for "Dave Day" and were made a fuss of. Very friendly social and informative staff on arrival made us feel welcome. The hotel's location was fantastic just over the road from town hall where events were taking place. A bar / resteraunt in lounge area with comfy seats and a terrace outside. Although no onsite parking, a carpark was just a walk away and free to use as hotel guests. Free WiFi was also appreciated. Room was nice and clean and had lots of facilities - ensuite, good TV, and electric sockets with usb to charge devices. Leaving us with a gift in our room for "Dave Day" was a lovely gesture and surprise when we returned to the room after our day, we both felt it was very thoughtful and kind. Will definitely stay again when next in Barrow.

Room was clean pleasant, quiet and a very nice bathroom with all you would need for an overnight stay. Also you could not get a large breakfast like we did for that price anywhere else - set us up for the ride back home.

Barrow has so much history. It is ideally situated for the lakes and Walney Island is just a stone throw away. The Round House Cafe at Biggar Bank on the island is well worth a visit whatever the weather.

Don't be put off by the area. A few bars for food and drink.
Don't be put off by the area. A few bars for food and drink. It's a perfect base to stay, a short drive to the beautiful lake district and a short trip to the south lakes zoo. Secure parking and a lovely room to relax after your trips out

Lovely area would suit most people.
Lovely area would suit most people. There are hidden gems if you like to explore. Plenty of shopping facilities. Easy to eat out at reasonable prices. The roads are clearly signed and easy to navigate. A great base for either staying in Barrow-in=Furness or travelling around the lakes daily.
A quiet holiday to extreme adventures, your choice is within the Lake District.

Hotel does not provide value for money, much better hotels...
Hotel does not provide value for money, much better hotels available for cheaper price. Pockets of good/excellence from staff, but major improvements required in the hospitality food preparation particularly for breakfast, which was extremely dissappointing. Generally, grounds are okay but nothing particularly special, the description and photos, do not accurately reflect the experience.
Would not take much to improve all round, as a number of staff were very nice and supportive.

This place has a really negative aura.
This place has a really negative aura. I can't even explain why but I was anxious while there. We should have booked a stay much closer to the Lakes or at least in Ulverston that is just a stone's throw away.

The hosts were lovely. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Have us choice of two rooms. One bigger but across the hall for bathroom, one smallest but next to beautiful large bathroom. The decor and feel of this hotel was stunning. And just as we were leaving, we found out they have a swimming pool under renovation. It's a very deceiving property like a TARDIS, but without the Dr Who 😂 will definitely return. Such a wonderful relaxing time. There is even a fridge in the rooms too.
Efficient checking in process, the desk manned all the time by friendly staff, very clean and extra spacious comfortable room cleaned to an exceptional standard, lovely and quiet, tea/coffee in the room, brilliant location in the centre of town, spacious bar downstairs with plenty of tables and efficient staff. A great example of a Wetherspoons hotel. We found free on street parking 10 mins on foot up Hartington Street opposite the hotel.
I seem to be here more than the staff or the dunes family. Amazing. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Hotel is clean. Room was large and spacious. Food was delicious. Had my little girl with me so have a park to go and play on is amazing. Careful of the wasps but I know hotel is doing everything they can to combat this. I visit barrow often to see family and now I won’t stay anywhere else
Fantastic staff during the evening and in the morning. You don't want for anything, so very helpful. Room was immaculate, best sleep I have had in years. I can't believe some of the comments some people say here, It's Barrow and really quite cheap for what you get. So local and convenient and staff so helpful, good luck to them.
Very quiet and pleasant little hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Breakfast was lovely combination of cooked and continental. Can’t fault our stay there. It was also close to the town centre and the places that we needed to visit. Lovely spacious car park
Staff were great. Real Ale was excellent. Breakfast superb. Free parking over the road. Convenient for train station and Barrow town centre but a but of a walk to the shipyard if that's what you're here for. I like it's independent- just felt better compared to a chain hotel.
Love staying here and have stayed many times..It is central to everything we need.We have family near who we also visit. We come from Newcastle and have tried other hotels in the Barrow area but unless it changes we will continue to use this hotel.
Lovely friendly staff , hotel clean and welcoming.
I relocated from a village near barrow so I’m very familiar with the area.
It’s lovely to have a good hotel to return to when visiting friends and family.
Close to Barrow town centre & train station.. Ideal for working in Barrow or for access to Ulverston and South Lakes. Stayed in double with ensuite. Good value for money with great hosts Linda & Paul.
The location of the hotel, the friendly and welcoming staff. The quality and standard of the rooms and food (Oscars restaurant, dinner and breakfast). The walks around the grounds.
clean and near the barrow town Centre which had many attraction nearby.
while Lake District was an hour drive but the attractions nearby in barrow, ulverston, were awesome too
It's cheap. It's not a luxury hotel, but a cheap one, so the problems were OK. Lack of hot water was ok for the 3 nights I stayed there. Staff friendly and helpful.
Conveniently located, with a huge car park across the street (free after 6 pm and on Sundays) and good price for a town centre hotel. Nice front desk staff
