Location is everything
Continental breakfast was okay - I only stayed for one night so I didn’t care that much.
The room was clean & nice lake view.
Staff are friendly and helpful

Everything. The hotel suite was beautiful. Staff amazing polite and helpful. The suite itself exceeded our expectations. Spoilt rotten with a very comfy large bed, beautiful bathroom with jacuzzi bath and rainforest shower, two patio areas and a hot tub. Beautifully decorated and we didn't want to come home. Thank you for your hospitality Kevin. We will definitely return.

Wonderful hotel, with a lot of charm and freshly renovated. The rooms in the Lake House are extraordinary with a spectacular view to the beautiful garden, the lake and including the romantic opposite lakeside. The beds are very comfy and we have hardly ever seen cleanier (bath) rooms before - spot on. All is very luxurious and outstanding.
The main house is breathing a great history and the dining rooms with huge windows are opening a phantastic view onto the gardens and the lake. The staff is very friendly and most of the times very attentive. The breakfast is good.
It was a phantastic stay with a very relaxing and luxurious atmosphere.

Breakfast was faultless as was dinner with good choice of options.
All staff we encountered were friendly and provided excellent service.

Being a dog owner where we stayed it was obvious it was not first class, more like third class because of owning dogs. The bed was uncomfortable, the fan wasn't working in the bathroom. The room was like a box. The corridor outside our room was noisy I had to ask for the people to be quiet. Away from the room the area is fantastic shame about the room. A big disappointment

Windermere truly lives up to its reputation as a magical place. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, it feels like stepping into a storybook. The serene lake, rolling hills, and charming villages create an otherworldly atmosphere.
However, if I must point out a drawback, it would be the transportation situation. Getting to Windermere by train can be quite challenging. Delays, unexpected disruptions, and even outright train cancellations are not uncommon. My own journey was marred by a harrowing series of train mishaps before finally arriving. For travelers considering a trip here, I strongly advise paying extra attention to train schedules and potential disruptions.
Despite the transportation challenges, Windermere’s beauty is worth experiencing. Whether you’re strolling along the lakeshore or exploring the nearby countryside, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression

The nature is awesome.
The nature is awesome. Some quaint towns like Ambleside are amazing but one should plan foe short walks like Rydal caves to Grasmere. The views are stunning. Windermere is excellent place to stay in Lake District and ine can then plan day trips from there.
Getting around even by public transport is convenient by buses just that plan it properly considering which outbound and inbound bus you should take.
Restelli Italia , Bondori Burrito were excellent Italian and Mexican restaurants.
We loved Bowness on Windermere, Keswick and Ambleside.

Love Windermere & have travelled to the area countless times for holidays & mini breaks, great location for exploring all that the Lake District offers. Would recommend staying in Windermere because it’s a great base & has every amenity necessary for a good holiday. We ate with friends on this visit but there are plenty of cafes & restaurants close by to meet most peoples needs.

Windermere was beautiful.
Windermere was beautiful.
We didn't realise before coming that down by the lake is classed as Bowness, which is much busier and touristy. So staying in Windermere really suited us as we could get down to the Lake easily enough, but liked being in a quieter location with some lovely independent places to eat.
The setting and look of this hotel is beautiful. A short walk from the shores of Windermere. I was slightly concerned as I had heard some bad reviews but this was not my experience. I was allowed to check in early and had a lovely, comfortable, spacious room with a large balcony. The only problem was that the walls are quite thin and the family next door to me were very loud and had the TV on until about 1.30am. Staff were polite on arrival and throughout generally helpful. Vali was particularly good.
We stayed at the j’adore suite which was very lovely as it was away from the main hotel and felt like our own little place. we had the hot tub outside, spa bath and steam room. the room was very clean, fresh towels every day and it felt very cosy. We would have loved to extend our stay. Windermere lake was within 10 minutes walking distance and shops, restaurants and pubs were very close by. Also, breakfast and hospitality was 10/10 for us! We will be definitely visiting again.
Very nice and friendly check in. Hotel location is great for Windermere and parking on site which was useful. Hotel reception with the wooden staircase is pretty. There is a sister hotel a 15min drive away in Kendal which had Spa facilities at just £8 for access - great after long walks. Dog friendly too which is great. Breakfast selection was adequate too, and tasted better than most hotel breakfasts. Pricing felt reasonable compared with other offerings at the time we went.
The reception and hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Comfortable room with excellent bathroom. The swimming pool and sauna are a great addition and easy to reserve a space. The breakfast is fantastic with a range of pastries to start and various choices for breakfast (the Cumbrian full breakfast is brilliant) The coffee and fresh orange is fresh and tastes amazing. Amazing views overlooking Windermere area.
The views are amazing from the Hotel of Lake Windermere. There is plenty of space to park the car . We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant and felt very looked after. Good sized room with a lake view. Although I have listed things we didn't like, I think if the rooms were not as expensive, we would stay again, hence why i have given a 7.0. I just feel they need to know where they need to improve.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Windermere Hotel.
The room was very spacious and clean and had a wonderful view over the lake.
The staff went above and beyond, making the room look romantic for our anniversary, for which we are very grateful.
The breakfast buffet had a great choice and was very tasty.
Overall, the whole experience was very enjoyable, and we will be coming back again.
Lovely building and the room was superb. Lots of attention to detail with furnishings. Bed huge and super comfy. Staff were great and Ian was fantastic with us as we arrived a little early but Ian let us have our room so we could go out around Windermere without having to come back to check in. This was much appreciated.
Good location. But the wooden floors and cupboard walls are worn out - they render the rooms noisy/squeaky and totally lack privacy as one can hear each word uttered in the next room. Also, there was cobwebs. The bathroom is too small for a 4.5 star hotel. There's no elevator. Breakfast was so basic.
Glen Wynne was a beautiful property located in the town of windermere. It was a very short walk to the town centre and easy to access shops. The property was absolutely spotless and kept to a very good standard. Hosts Grant and Nick were very informative and friendly. Will definitely be returning :)
Room was so cosy and very clean
Lovely hotel inside and outside
It was only a 20 minute walk to bowness on Windermere where we took a small cruise around the lake which was lovely
Easy to sort keys/rooms out and Jane was lovely
I Will definitely come back
Great value for money in the perfect location 👌🏼 compared to others that are priced for double the money why spend a fortune at fancy hotels when all you actually need is somewhere to stop the night whilst exploring throughout the day.
An amazing location overlooking Lake Windermere, a first class kitchen, attentive and knowledgeable staff (particularly the hotel manager Tom). A very impressive package in a crowded market in the southern lakes.
Friendly couple, greeted on arrival, delicious breakfast options, able to give advice as to what to see, where to go etc, centrally located between Windermere & Bowness. Would stay here again.
Excellent location views are stunning. Unique old country House hotel tastefully decorated to maintain the character.
Friendly helpful staff , made you feel that nothing was too much trouble.
Room 4 was clean and spacious the breakfast was good as was the choice. The staff were friendly and helpful .the hotel is situated between bowness and Windermere. A great position
Good location in Windermere and walking distance to Bowness for the lake. The room with bathroom and walk-in cupboard were a good size with a very comfortable king-size bed.
Lovely apartment in the center of Windermere
Communication with stay. Was really good giving details for checking in and collecting keys.
Would definitely stay here again
